1. Want a $15 gift card to Starbucks? I'm giving one away on my blog this week, in celebration of my one year blogging anniversary! Come on over and be in the mix to possibly win!
2. Our vacation last week to West Virginia, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach was fabulous. Waaayyyy too hot and humid, but besides that, totally perfect in every way. My mother took Alan while we went, which was the most amazing gift and blessing. It allowed my husband and I to reconnect and talk and just, well, relax a little.
We spent the longest portion of the trip in Myrtle Beach, although we never set foot on the beach in Myrtle Beach proper. Instead, we spent time on the beaches north and south of there. The best, by far, was Pawley's Island, which is clean, pristine, has great shelling, and is as natural and unspoiled as they come. Pawley's Island claims it is the oldest resort area in the entire U.S. Some of the 1700's building there might attest to that, but who knows? If we ever go back to that area, that's where we're renting a beach house.
3. The purpose of visiting North Carolina was for my husband to reminisce over his childhood on Fort Bragg, in Fayetteville. He lived there for about 5 years as a small child and he wanted to see if the houses his family lived in on-base were still there - they were! I have never been on a military base, so it was an amazing and eye-opening experience for me. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that it's an entire town/city of its' own, complete with schools, theatres, stores, dental offices, etc. I was amazed to see how the streets looked the same as on the outside, even while we were on the "inside." I was also blown away by how large the base was. We spent about 3 hours there, also eating at the PX (which turned out to be a food court).
4. While away, my mother bought Alan some used Teletubby videos. He instantly took to them. Should I be worried?
5. My husband's birthday is in a few days and we're broke. I don't know why this bothers me so much, other than to say I love him so much and he does so many things for me, that I just want to shower him with gifts and attention. Instead, I'm scheming small ways to try and make his day happy. This is also the first time in a while that he will have to work on his birthday, so that makes it more challenging for me. Any ideas, anyone?
6. I believe I'm addicted to Facebook. Seriously. There are days when in my heart of hearts I know I'm on there way too much. On the flipside, I do think alot about WHY I'm so addicted to it, whereas I don't know if other people do or not. Still, if you're a regular reader of my blog and want to be my Facebook friend, just let me know! Ha! (Seriously, just leave a comment - they're moderated - with your name and I'll friend you. The comment will not get published.)
7. Wisconsin is still experiencing an unusually cool summer. The temperatures this week are in the 60's, which is fine by me! (Most people are complaining about it, though.) I love fall weather, it's my favorite season by far. So bring it on and keep it up, Mother Nature!

:) Glad you enjoyed seeing Bragg! Pretty neat isn't it? :)
Alrighty... jumping the gun here... but in response to the other post asking about name/location.
My name is Theresa McCrackine and I'm from the Ft. Bragg area. I'd love to be entered in the Starbucks drawing even though I don't drink coffee, my DH does. I'm sure he'd use the entire gift card before he takes off on deployment soon too.
I have a blog but it's set to private, invite only. Let me know if you'd like to read once in awhile. :) You can peek into the life of a "dirt dart" family. (name we give our Airborne soldiers)
Seriously - Teletubbies - YES you should be worried - I am not kidding! And for your son's later years I would say no to "Yo gabba gabba".
Katie,
Tell me why you think that!
Also - Alan has been watching Yo Gabba Gabba since a very young age. I love it and think it is very innocent. Whereas he is not allowed to watch anything Disney, even Mickey Mouse Playhouse, since it's so brainless. I also don't allow certain programs on Noggin/Nickelodeon - although I'm starting to break down on Dora, I admit.
Actually, starting last week, I set out to cut down Alan's TV viewing by 1/2. I have been mostly successful, instead playing classical music and trying to get him to play.
